I know I’m like a broken record with my love for old things, but I had to mention it again because one of my favorite exhibition spaces in Milan falls into that topic: Palazzo della Ragione. One of the things I love most about Milan is how the city juxtaposes the old and modern, and this is incredibly apparent in this venue.
The 13th-century Palazzo della Ragione sits in Piazza Mercanti, the heart of the city during the Middle Ages, and once served as the city’s administrative building. Today, it’s an awesome photography exhibit venue, showing a series of short-term exhibits from amazing photographers like Sebastiao Selgado and Herb Ritts. I love walking around a centuries old building and seeing the modern layout of of the curated exhibit against the backdrop of the structure’s faded frescoes and exposed brick walls.
