Happy 2017!

new year's resolutions 2017

I’m not usually one to make New Year’s resolutions, as I think any time of the year is suitable for change, but I’m actually very excited for 2017. I know a lot of people hated 2016, and while it certainly did have some downers, I think it’s safe to say, that on a personal level, it’s been one of the better years of my life and most certainly the best year I’ve had since I arrived in Italy almost four years ago. I truly hope my uphill climb continues because I’ve waited long enough and I really don’t want to wait anymore.

In addition to spending a wonderful ten days with my parents in Italy and upping my reading ante, I finally felt the most secure that I’ve felt since I’ve relocated, and 2017 marks the first time I’m actually looking forward to a new year. I feel like it’s a new beginning and that the best is yet to come, and I hope I’m right. I’m actually so thrilled for 2017 that I’ve made some new year’s resolutions that I’m keeping private for now, as many of their outcomes are out of my control and I don’t want to jinx them. However, this doesn’t mean they’re the only resolutions I’ll make this year.

I’m not trying to sound like a brat or anything, but I’m going just a tad bit stir crazy here on the other side of the pond, and I can’t wait to get back to Milan so that my life, year and plans can start unfolding.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy to be among my friends and family here in New York of course, but my life isn’t here anymore and I’m not exactly “on vacation”. However, as it always is, I’m going to be super sad when I leave next week and crying hysterically when my parents leave me at the airport as I always do. But when I look out the window as the plane soars over the Alps during the approach to Malpensa, I’ll be happy that I’m almost home.

Good luck with your New Year resolutions, Jackie! I hope they all unfold to your satisfaction and in your favor. You work hard and deserve only the best because you are the best (Where have you heard a line like that before?). It was great spending Christmas Eve and Christmas day with you.
Hopefully, one day in the future, I can spend some time with you in Italy.
As much as we miss you when you return back to Italy, we are happy for you because you are living your life and your dreams.
    Happy New Year!
    Love you more!

Thanks so much, Uncle Nick! You’re the best as well! So great to spend with you, too, and I’ll see you before I leave!!! Love you!
