Milan? Yes, really.

“Really?” people usually ask me surprised when I declare my love for Milan.

“Yes, really,” I  reply. “Milan is alive.” And it’s true. The food scene is incredibly exciting, the people watching is beyond my wildest dreams–I think the Milanese are the most stylish people I’ve ever seen–and the architecture is fascinating, plus it’s really easy to get around. From Emperor Constantine issuing the Edict of Milan to World War II to Expo 2015, Milan has had–and will continue to have–a significant role in world history.

To do Milan right, you need to look beyond the tour guides and crowd-sourced websites (ahem, Trip Advisor). I’m lucky to know a couple of Milanese, but for anyone who doesn’t, I would recommend taking a look at this blog, S’Notes. The writer is a local and she writes about her Milan, as a resident who loves her city. She also has a great app that highlights many of her favorite places. And I’d like to add that I wouldn’t mind owning her camera as her photography is awesome!

In the meantime, here are some  pics from my recent visit conveniently snapped with my humble iPhone.  You may or may not have seen them on Instagram and/or Facebook already, but I thought it would be nice to put them all in one place. Hope you enjoy them! As for me, I’m counting down the days until I return, which hopefully will be in July!

    1. Thanks! It’s such a great city and it drives me crazy when people say there was nothing there. They just need to open their eyes, ears and minds a little bit. That’s all! 🙂
